The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) has started a major resurfacing project on Interstate 90. It covers an 8-mile stretch and aims to improve safety, extend the life of the road, and give drivers a smoother ride. This project will last two years and is expected to wrap up by fall 2026.
Extra Safety and Drainage Upgrades Included
Crews will do more than just repave the road. They will install new lighting near the top of Fourth of July Pass, upgrade drainage systems, and replace concrete barriers. These changes will make the highway safer in all weather.
Work Will Happen in Phases
Construction will take place on both directions of the highway. Workers will move section by section through the 8-mile zone. There will be a pause in work during winter. However, if weather allows, some crews may continue to work to finish early.

During construction, expect:
